Prev Next

This guide outlines the process to perform database restorations within WHM via the Acronis plugin.

  1. To begin, log in to WHM and search for “plugins” in the search box at the top left of your WHM isntance.

Then click on the Acronis Backup plugin link on the left, then click the Backups tab on the main page.

  2. Click on the backup you would like to restore from. In this example, we will use the latest backup at the top.

  1. Click on the “Databases” option, as we are wanting to restore an existing Database on the server.

  2. Once the Database section is loaded you can select whichever database you would like to either “Recover” or “Download”. Once you have selected your database click “Recover”:

  3. After you select Recover, a dialogue box will appear with additional options.

If you are reverting a database to a previous version and are okay with replacing all of its existing data:
You should also check the “Recover database users” option before clicking “Start recovery”

This means you won't have to manually set the user permissions in cPanel after the database restore is complete.

If you prefer not to restore and overwrite the existing database:
You can select the option to “Add suffix to the recovered database name,” then input a suffix before clicking “Start recovery.”

This will restore the database as an additional new database within the same cPanel account.
For instance, if this option were used for this example database “acronisexample_wordpress”, with the suffix “test”, the new database would be created as “acronisexample_wordpresstest.”

  4. We can now see that the task is being completed by the Acronis Plugin as highlighted below:

  5. The status bar will change when the operation is completed to “Succeeded”:
