How do I Change DNS Records?
In this article, we will show you how you can change the DNS entry in a zone file. Here we are going to discuss only DNS records which are set in a zone file.
DNS records are the actual data that maps a domain name or subdomain name to an IP address. If you are using Servers Australia Nameservers for your domain then you can control DNS entries through the Servers Australia cPanel. Servers Australia offers simple and easy way to change DNS records.
Why Do You Need to Change DNS Entries?
There are many cases where you want to change DNS records. For example say, you want to host your subdomain to another host other than Servers Australia. You may also want to host it at Servers Australia but with static IP address so you will need to change the A record for that subdomain.
If you want to host your emails on Gmail then you will also need to change CNAME and A records in DNS zone file. There are many other cases also where you want to change the DNS entries. Whenever reason you need to update your DNS records, you can do so from the cPanel.
DNS Records Example
Here for the demo purpose, we will create a brand new TXT record:
1. First login to your servers WHM.
2. In the search bar enter "DNS Zone Manager"
3. Press "Manage" on the domain you wish to create records for.
4. After pressing the "Add Record" button a blank record will come up where we can put in our details.
5. As shown below we are about to create a TXT record for example.net. with a TTL (Time To Live) value of 600.
6. After you press "Save Record you will be notified of it being added to your DNS Zone:
Once you have added your record check to make sure that it is listed:
You have now successfully added a DNS Record.
