# NFS

Network File System (NFS) is a type of file system mechanism that enables the storage and retrieval of data from multiple disks and directories across a shared network. A network file system enables local users to access remote data and files in the same way they are accessed locally.

The use cases for NFS commonly include:

- File Storage in Windows & Linux Systems
- Backup Storage
- Large File Storage
- Scale-Out Archival Storage

Our current platform is built using Hybrid SAS Mechanical Disks with All-Flash cashing disks in each Node.

> We do not allow CephS Volumes to be used as Virtual Machine Primary Storage, please use our iSCSI Block Storage Product. This includes the following but is not limited to:
> 
> Windows HyperV
> 
> VMware vSphere
> 
> KVM
> 
> XEN
> 
> Kubernetes POD Storage
