In cPanel hosting environments with CloudLinux, the operating system puts accounts into a caged environment (LVE) where by, each account can have specific PHP versions and PHP extensions. In cases where customers have CloudLinux, you can use 'PHP Selector' to choose which version of PHP a site is operating under and which PHP modules you want to use.
To access these settings, follow the steps outlined below:
1. Log in to WHM, and log in to the cPanel for the associated account you want to change the PHP version for by clicking on the cPanel icon next to your domain:

2. Once in the cPanel account, you need to scroll down to the "Software" heading, and click on "MultiPHP Manager":

Once in here, you will see information similar to the image below:

This means the site is currently running on the default (Inherit) cPanel-supplied server-wide version of PHP; In this instance, it's PHP 8.1. The Native version of PHP will use the PHP modules set in EasyApache.

3. Use the drop-down menu to select the PHP version, and set it using "Set as current", then tick the PHP modules that you want to be available to this site, and then click "Save".
You can switch between different versions of PHP, or set this to "Inherit" the server-wide PHP version.
