# How do I Create, Edit or Delete files with File Manager in cPanel

If you need to manage your files within your cPanel account for website content, third-party backups or other - navigating to the ‘File Manager’ within cPanel is where this can be done.

From here, you can choose a scenario out of the three below to suit what action you’re needing to take:

**Create File**

**Edit File**

To edit a file, browse to the file you wish modify and click ‘**Edit**’ at the top; It will present a text-based editor provided the file is supported for it ![](https://cdn.document360.io/d809f158-d4f4-47ff-83d4-18d9c9f7a04d/Images/Documentation/image-1687628654577.png)

**Delete File**

To delete a file, select the file line, and then click on ‘**Delete**’ at the top.

A pop-up prompt will display asking if you’d like to move it to the Trash, or permanently delete it. Do note that simply moving it to the Trash (whilst making it retrievable) will continually consume Disk Space if not maintained.
