Equinix Facilities FAQ

Full-time access to your Servers Australia colocation in one of our Equinix cages requires additional security steps before cardholders can gain access to their colocation.

PINs and QR Codes

If you have full-time access to an Equinix data centre, you must now use a PIN and unique QR code for additional security. This new PIN replaces all location-specific PINs previously used, simplifying what you need to know to get in the door.

For an expedited security check-in process, you will now scan your new, unique QR code and be visually validated by security, getting you to your rack more quickly.

What does this mean for access requests?

All Equinix data centre visitors with an access request must present their QR code along with a government-issued ID upon check-in at the security desk. Your name, as it appears on your government-issued ID, must match your name in the Equinix Customer Portal.

What do you need to do?

All full-time access customers must set up a Security Profile in the Equinix Customer Portal (ECP): https://portal.equinix.com

After receiving your welcome email notifying you of your new account creation, you will need to log in and click on the Security Profile banner at the top of the screen. As part of that setup process, you will create your global 6-digit PIN. You will also have the option to include a photo. Uploading a photo is recommended, as it enables Equinix site security to visually validate you and allows you to bypass the security line on repeat visits.

After your Security Profile is completed and has been reviewed, you will receive your unique QR code. This can be accessed and printed via the ECP or found on your mobile device via the ECP mobile application (Apple or Android). You will scan your QR code at the IBX access kiosk for expedited security check-in.

If you experience any issues accessing the Equinix portal, we recommend reaching out to Equinix Support or the Servers Australia Technical Support team.

Equinix and Coronavirus

Does Equinix require visitors to show proof of vaccination and/or a negative test to access an IBX data centre?
The health and peace of mind of our employees, contractors, customers and partners remain paramount. We have also ensured that our IBXs and local offices always follow the laws, policies and recommendations of local governments and health authorities.

When it comes to vaccinations, these values remain unchanged. Equinix will continue to monitor each market, make local policy decisions accordingly, and communicate where they apply.

If proof of vaccination and/or testing is required by Equinix and/or local mandate, this will be noted by location in the IBX Access Status Grid. All visitors must comply with entry requirements listed for that site to gain entry.

Are customers able to access IBX locations during COVID-19?
All Equinix IBX data centre locations worldwide are currently operational, and customers and partners are able to access the sites for work visits. However, in some locations, visitors must follow enhanced screening protocols and adhere to health and safety requirements to enter the facility.

Some sites in the Americas and EMEA may operate under appointment-only access policies, which may ease as COVID-19 case rates, infection rates, vaccination rates, and public health recommendations improve.

At present, all Asia-Pacific IBX locations allow access.

For the most up-to-date access and health and safety protocols by IBX location, refer to the Equinix IBX Access Status Grid. Policies and procedures in place for each IBX data centre apply to all visitors, customers, contractors, and vendors entering the facility.
